Linda Kachelmeier
Linda Kachelmeier (b. 1965)
Linda Kachelmeier is a composer, conductor, and professional singer with a special passion for choral music and art song, describing her music as having "luscious counterpoint, deliberate dissonances, and assertive vocal interaction." A longtime St. Paul resident, she was awarded the prestigious McKnight Fellowship for Composition in 2017, and has received commissions from Cantus, The Rose Ensemble, and The Singers; her music has been performed by school and church choirs across the United States and Europe. Since 1991 she has served as Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church in South St. Paul, and is founder and artistic director of the women's vocal quartet LUMINA. Her influences range from medieval chant to gospel, and her choral writing is sensitive, craft-driven, and deeply rooted in the human voice.
