Jocelyn Hagen
Jocelyn Hagen (b. 1980)
Minneapolis-based Jocelyn Hagen composes music described as "simply magical" by Fanfare Magazine and "dramatic and deeply moving" by the Star Tribune. She is a pioneer in the field of composition, pushing the expectations of musicians and audiences with large-scale multimedia works, electro-acoustic music, dance, and opera — with the majority of her output written for the voice. She was commissioned by the Minnesota Chorale and Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra to compose The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci, a seven-movement work for choir, orchestra, and video projections, which has since been performed across the country. She holds degrees in theory, composition, and vocal music education from St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota.
