Jake Runestad
Jake Runestad (b. 1986)
Hailed as "one of the best of the younger American composers" by the Chicago Tribune and dubbed a "choral rockstar" by American Public Media, Jake Runestad is an Emmy-winning, Grammy-nominated composer whose works have been featured in thousands of performances worldwide. He was one of the youngest composers ever awarded the Raymond W. Brock Commission from the American Choral Directors Association, for which he wrote A Silence Haunts Me — hailed as "a masterpiece" by Dale Warland. His choral symphony Earth Symphony earned the Emmy, and A Dream So Bright, recorded by True Concord Voices & Orchestra, received a 2025 Grammy nomination. A native of Rockford, Illinois, Runestad is based in Minneapolis and holds a master's from the Peabody Conservatory.
