About This Event
Two weeks after our InChoir exploration of the Duruflé Requiem, we present the entire work in a memorial performance paired with meditative readings. Singers who joined us in September will now experience a full realization of the Requiem with guest organist Ju Young Lee at the console.
The Requiem, Opus 9 is a meditation on the complex journey of humankind when facing death. Duruflé wrote: “This Requiem is not an ethereal work which sings of detachment from earthly worries. It reflects, in the immutable form of the Christian prayer, the agony of man faced with the mystery of his ultimate end.” Requiescat in Pace is the first full breath of the season: an opportunity for reflection and commemoration of those we have lost, and a celebration of the love and community that surround is still.
