Like other leading symphonic choruses, the Chorale comprises a roster of both paid and volunteer singers. From this diverse pool of vocalists, Artistic Director Kathy Saltzman Romey selects the voices best suited to each performance project.
Singers come to the Chorale through a highly selective audition process. All singers on the active roster are required to re-audition every year.
Chorale singers are notable for the depth of their musical training: more than half hold undergraduate or graduate degrees in music.
The Chorale's roster includes a wide range of length of service, from those who are new to the ensemble each year, to those with many decades of involvement.
All singers -- prospective and current -- audition every year in May and June. The audition includes the performance of a classical solo – sacred, secular, or art song. Auditions also include exercises to determine range and voice part, sight reading ability, tonal memory, and musicianship. For complete audition information please complete the form (to the right) or call 612.455.2100.
This year, in response to social mitigation measures imposed to limit the spread of the coronavirus, and to protect auditionees and Chorale staff, auditions will be conducted online in a two-step process.
The Chorale needs volunteers to help with a wide variety of tasks – from assisting with mailings to helping usher at our Bridges concerts. If you're interested in knowing more about volunteer opportunities with the Chorale, please complete the form (to the right) and we'll add your name to our volunteer database so you'll receive an email whenever we have a need for volunteers.
There are no open positions currently. If you would like to be considered for future opportunities, please complete the form (to the right). Thank you for your interest in the Minnesota Chorale!
