Sing On!

Led by Chorale Artistic Director Kathy Saltzman Romey, "Sing On!" features the inaugural performance of Voices of Experience, a choir for senior adults operated as a partnership between the Minnesota Chorale and the MacPhail Center for Music.

Though often courted as consumers of and donors to the arts, seniors have been comparatively neglected as performers and creators. To remedy this neglect, the Chorale, in partnership with the MacPhail Center, is launching Voices of Experience, a chorus of self-identified seniors—-some living independently, others not-—including individuals with and without previous choral experience. After a dozen intensive daytime rehearsals, Voices of Experience will make its debut, flanked by members of the Minnesota Chorale and Minneapolis Youth Chorus, on Friday, November 19, in MacPhail Center's Antonello Hall, and on Sunday, November 21, at Westwood Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park. These concerts will feature four generations of singers appearing side by side.

The Minnesota Chorale is committed to artistic excellence across the entire spectrum of its activities, and Voices of Experience is no exception. The new chorus is designed to be not only a recreational activity but a serious artistic endeavor, providing seniors with ongoing opportunities for learning, creativity, pride, community-building, and self-renewal in later life.
