June is busting out all over! Our annual auditions are behind us, and we have an action-packed season ahead. Read on for news about upcoming performances and activities.

   Finishing with a bang!

Yan Pascal Tortelier Our final concerts of the 2013-14 concert season promise to be epic: led by the dynamic French conductor Yan Pascal Tortelier (pictured, right), we'll join the Minnesota Orchestra to present Orff's iconic "Carmina Burana" and Stravinsky's profoundly moving and spiritual "Symphony of Psalms." And we'll sing Minnesota-based composer Steven Heitzeg's inspiring "Now We Start the Great Round," last performed in 2012, with new lyrics celebrating our return to Orchestra Hall. Don't miss it!

   On the road with MYC
on the road with MYCon the road with MYC

The students of the Minneapolis Youth Chorus (MYC) departed via two motorcoach buses on Tuesday, June 24, for the ensemble's first-ever performance tour to the East Coast. Led by founding conductor Patrice Arasim and associate conductor/accompanist Walter Tambor, MYC singers are sharing their talent and artistry with audiences in and around Washington, D.C. During the tour, we're posting updates and photos on our Facebook page. For now, enjoy this video from MYC's 2012 spring concert at MacPhail Center for Music.

   Looking ahead

The Minnesota Orchestra's Sommerfest is just around the corner, and we've already begun rehearsals for Johann Strauss's opera, "Die Fledermaus." The Waltz King's effervescent romp, presented in a semi-staged format, is the perfect entertainment for a summer evening - join us!

Thank you!

Next year's schedule is shaping up to be both busy and meaningful, including the return of our wildly-popular season opening Choral Showcase; chances to sing and learn through InChoir and our annual Messiah Sing-Along; educational initiatives like our 2015 Bridges program, YouthWorks! with GTCYS, MYS and Angelica Cantanti; and, of course, a rich and varied slate of performances with our beloved Minnesota Orchestra. MYC, Prelude and VoX continue to grow and provide enriching opportunities for singers both young and old.

But none of this work would be possible without you. Thanks for caring about the importance of choral music here in Minnesota, the epicenter of the choral universe. Thanks for your donations, your words of encouragement, and your advocacy.

We're depending on your ongoing help. Our fiscal year ends on June 30. If you haven't yet made a gift to the Minnesota Chorale, won't you consider donating today? The funds you provide will help ensure that our voices will ring out strong and our mission will be fulfilled: to educate, enrich, unite and inspire through the power of the human voice.

Thank you:
you make us sing!
