October 2013                     The Online Newsletter of the Minnesota Chorale

All of us at the Minnesota Chorale - singers, staff, and board - are deeply saddened by the resignation of Osmo Vänskä as music director of the Minnesota Orchestra. Our collaborations with Vänskä and the musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra represent mountain-top moments in our organization's performing history. In addition to his exceptional musical leadership, Osmo Vänskä was a faithful friend and supporter of the Minnesota Chorale's mission and activities. We will miss him profoundly.

But our work goes on. The Chorale's grant-supported education and community-engagement programs are proceeding full steam ahead - including the Minneapolis Youth Chorus and its new Prelude choir, Voices of Experience (offered in partnership with MacPhail Center for Music), and our nationally acclaimed Bridges program. Looking ahead, sing-along events throughout the year and across the metro will give you the opportunity to make music with us. Our season brochure will arrive in your mailbox soon - be sure to mark your calendar and plan to attend our enriching choral programs and concerts! And read on for more details on what's in store during October.

You make us sing!

As we launch our new season, the financial pain from the extended lockout of the Minnesota Orchestra continues to affect us. While we are working diligently to repair the financial damage the lockout is causing, our work goes on, no matter what. Our independent concert schedule is filled with inspiring music-making, with many opportunities to share in the joy of communal singing.

But we can't do it alone; we count on friends like you to support our mission of expressing through song the power of the human voice to educate, enrich, unite and inspire! Every gift is meaningful. Please click here to support our work.

And to all who have already stepped in with generous and open-hearted donations, thank you: you make us sing!
